Never on a Friday

Baroness Deech

I commented on this topic in part in my post “24/7” http://lordsoftheblog.net/2014/06/01/247/, where I told the tale of a patient with a life-threatening condition who had to wait in hospital from Friday until Monday for the consultants to return and the scanning machines to be switched on for use. I revert to this topic again because by bad luck my family always seem to need medical attention on a Friday or, even worse, a Bank Holiday Friday.  Toothache? nothing doing except take a pain killer and wait – unless it is a real emergency. The internet sites are full of complaints about lack of good dental service out of hours and in general. Pain which may or may not be an emergency, but certainly needs GP assessment? If you phone the surgery you are told to call 111. I found the 111 service quite efficient but it resulted in an interminable wait at the emergency weekend GP clinic on the other side of town, where it seemed that most of the waiting patients probably were not registered with a GP at all.

We expect 7 day service from the police, the traffic wardens, the utility services, the sportsgrounds, the cinemas, the supermarkets, the pubs and restaurants, the press, the internet, TV and radio, buses and trains. It is reported that keeping GP services available for longer would cost £400m. So how do we finance the 7 day availability needed urgently from the medical and hospital services? The Taxpayers’ Alliance has identified £46 million spent on “unnecessary” jobs in the NHS – PR and Equality & Diversity posts. They allege that the NHS spent £41m more than necessary on water and energy. They point the finger at taxpayer-funded expenditure on unwanted art galleries and swimming pools; HS2; office space for trade union activities; and I have frequently bemoaned the £11bn (some say it was actually more) spent on the Olympics – remember them? If there was a will to do it, surely 7-day hospital and GP services could be funded by an economy drive in the NHS or scrapping HS2. We also need to train more doctors: there is a considerable supply of able young people who want to study medicine but cannot get a place, because the training places are limited to between 6 and 7000. Given that  numbers of students in non-medical subjects are likely to be uncapped soon, then there must be a case for increasing places for medical students, expensive though they are.

First of all, the absolute nerve our leaders have of referring to what we have now for the sick as a ‘health service’ is a case of black humour. People get ill rarely between 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. Run the statistics and see. You offer the equivalent of a transport service for workers when the hours to commute would not relate at all.

However, all this utter nonsense we hear and read about immigrants being the backbone of our ‘free at the point of use’ health service is rabid political deception. Since the Blair creature took office in 1997 the human invasion of people into this country has been running at around 300,000 per annum. That is about a 5 million addition of people needing use of our infrastructure, housing, NHS, education and so on. Lets forget the preceeding years of input from outside our country, as open door policy only sprung up from the present Labour groups appearance on the scene. Just prior to their decision to go to war with the world. A huge majority of immigrants came into the UK from outside the EU, long before the open door policy was a fact of life.

And why did they come? Because Labour and Conservatives asked them to. They went to the lands of their birth and advertised for people to come to Britain to give them a better life. And they asked them in, in order to fill our NHS, transport, town Halls and all other related government jobs with people who could and would accept low pay. They also carried out this ruinous practice in order not have to train our homegrown variety at a cost they saw as too profligate to bother with. They didn’t want to make sure those who lived here had a means to earn a living. Hence, turning British people into ‘useless eaters.’

With this enormous influx it lowered the standard of living and the standards of care beyond belief, as you cannot increase a population to the levels you have done, at this kind of rate, unless you are willing to fund the increasing need any people would have, in order to find an equal lifestyle in our society. Housing, health care, education, social care, benefits and on and on could not continue at the level it was with this amount of influx. Only a complete idiot would think it could. And then, as the British elderly grew in number it was again policy to inhibit the breeding of those living and working here as indiginous population. It was a deliberate act to lower the standard of living for all except the extremely wealthy. A return to surfdom was the object and it has worked.

And don’t pretend you don’t remember the health service as it was in the early sixties, because the majority in the Lords are more than getting on a bit. All of them didn’t have private health insurance so they knew how it was. Just as those coming in from the subcontinent, and wherever else, feel they have an absolute right to free health care here, which was not meant to be used as an ‘international’ health service. The gall of it, and to expect us to keep our mouths shut now is unbelievable. This practice was not and is not possible no matter what pretense you want to throw out on a daily basis.

Why do you people feel the British tax payer should be footing the bill for millions of people from other parts of the planet? Why do you feel it is our ‘duty’ and that if we speak out we should be ashamed? You come clean on why this is in your mind? Especially considerng you all reject the teachings of Christianity with a vengeance, this strikes me as a ludicrously hypocritical policy. Akin to the people in Gullivers travels. Is Sturgeon planning for the Scots to feed and heal the world at their cost? Certainly sounded like it from the noises regarding more open door madness pouring from her gub. Along with the Australian Green maniac. Why, after being here only for fifteen years, does she feel fit to run the UK rather than make her speeches to her fellow Australians? I wonder why that is? Does she think we are all stupid because the ozzies would throw her out on her ear if she tried it there? We had to suffer this farce for two hours in a debate we were forced to sit through, if we wanted any idea what the hell those planning to run the show come May has in mind. And you all wonder why Farage looks like the best bet.

The NHS is being deliberately dismantled and has been for years. You are all looking at the big money the Health Insurance companies of the US make and you, like the Blair creatures, want a piece of the action. What the hell was PFI? Do tell us all about it and why you voted it through? And now deciding to scream about the state of the care because at last it is affecting you. Blind to it when you thought only ‘untouchables’ would be feeling the pinch.

Quite literally, you would have to be desperate to use the health service in so many parts of our country now, your best bet, if it wasn’t an accident would be to buy a plane ticket to France to get treated. Didn’t Mandelson do that relatively recently for some unusual ailment he had? Do remember, nothing is secret in todays world.

    1. From 1330pm every Friday [except Good Friday which has already shut down to the Needy between 1330 and 1530 the previous Thursday] solidly wall-to-wall until 1000am every Monday morning [except ‘bank-holidays’]
    all Lifesupport places such as AgeUK. Age Concern, U3A, MIND, Tenants -cum – Neighbourhood services, and suchlike, and Sundays all feeding and cuppa ‘drop-in’ places, are closed not only to the Public but to the desperately Needy as well;

    2. Shops, cafes, and most outreach services, together with Constitutional, Parliamentary, and Local Government Services [such as Adult Social and Health Care*] are not available.

From Friday lunchtime to Monday lunchtime, the Life of the Needy disappears: no longer exists.

    3. Under-‘pinning’ all this, is
    (1) the Non-Existence under British Constitution and Legislative Law of Life-Essentials such as Health, Holistic-Health-Maintenance and Improvement
[even the individual citizen entirely on their own ‘independent private’ account is therefore ‘outlawed’ from both maintaining & improving their own health, holistic or otherwise, and of course even more so from helping anyone else to maintain and/or improve their health].

    (and there is more)

I would also like to add this post on why the information in these links is not given to the public in this country so that they can be free to make their own decisions in matters of the health of their children?

This is, after all, a part of the disfunctioning NHS that appears to not be up to date on these very important matters.

    The underlurking
    and overshadowing
Constitutional-British ‘frog blocking the fountain’ –

not just to the NHS becoming willing and able to use the friendly first-resort Methodology III of ‘No Lose’ Cooperative Problem Solving –
but right across the boards throughout the Nation and all of its Services,
    is

    the monopolistic individual-capitalistic dominance
    of the colonial-British militantly aggressive
    ‘Competitive Winner-Takes-All,
Adversary Legal, Political and Social System’.

It is also that selfsame destructive militant adversary ‘winner-takes-all’ System that prevents other Nations too from advancing into full-time Participatory Democracy
[not just the ‘time-saving, no bother, quick & simple-to-do’
    ‘”one pencil cross,
for just one representative person and ‘party’,
on a scrap of destructible ballot paper,
    once every five years,
to the Exclusion of one’s real and future Needs & Sustainworthily-Affordable Hows’] .
    ————-
    Summary: The focal Issue:-
    Suppression of Methodology III of ‘No Lose’ Cooperatively Participative and Sustainworthy Problem Solving;

under the De-Facto Autocratic destructivism of the
“Winner-Takes-All” Adversary British* Constitutional Legal & Social System.

    * The fact that other Nation-States,
    sore-thumbly the USA,
    have the same ‘stuck-in-the-colonial-battlefield-mudness-madness’

[in their now near-English-speaking constitutions and everyday life practices
as us World-Language Winners ‘The United Kingdom’]

is no excuse for our British Wasteful Servitude
    to a Yesteryear Stupidity
and lack of ‘People-Go’ to even test-out
first-resort friendly Methodology III ‘No Lose’
    within ‘open’ families and accessibly-small-neighbourhood-groups.
