    1) Glenamara, Thatcher, MacGregor of Pulham Market, Baker of Dorking, Williams of Crosby, Patten, Shephard of Northwold & Morris of Yardley

    2) Lord Rees-Mogg. Which wasn’t the answer I expected. On reading the question I thought of Lord Gowrie whose role at the Arts council I knew well enough.

In finding that out I came across a comment on former BBC Chairman Lord Hussey of North Bradley. I was quite unaware his negotiating tactic to gain an advantage consisted of taking off his wooden leg and putting it on the table!

Croft: Well done, you got in first with the correct answers. I thought the first question may pose a teaser to some readers, but you got in with all eight peers who have served as Education Secretary. On Lord Hussey, I can see why it was a good tactic. I once knew a one-eyed individual who, if he disliked someone, had a habit of taking his glass eye out. I rely on what I was told as, fortunately, I got on well with him!

Rob: You were pipped at the post. You get a commendation, though, for listing the Education Secretaries in chronological order.
