Result of Parliamentary Photo Competition

Lord Dholakia

Tourist Massage CentreMyself, with my three exhibited photos

Further to an earlier post, the Parliamentary Photo Exhibition has now been opened. This year’s competition attracted over 500 entries of which there were 7 ‘Judges Choice’ entries. For those who were interested, three of my photos were exhibited: one showing a woman sitting on the floor next to her broom, taken from above; one portrait of a man with an axe, and; the photo that was chosen as ‘Judges Choice’, a ‘Tourist Massage Centre’ on Juhu beach in Mumbai.

Taking photographs is my hobby, so I was delighted that these photos were exhibited. The APPG for Photography helps bring photographers together within parliament, but also helps to raise important issues, such as the problems some photographers face from misinformed police or security personnel preventing them taking photos in some public places. Austin Mitchell MP, chairman of the group, has been campaigning through EDMs etc to raise the profile of this issue.

Other winners in the competition were shadow minister for children, Tim Loughton, with ‘Maputo Rush Hour’, Colin Challen MP with ‘You are Here’, Austin Mitchell MP, Lord Crathorne, and former Nato general secretary Lord Robertson.

All photos can be viewed at www.jessops.com/parliament and members of the public can vote for their favourite.
