A number of peers have been notable for their sporting prowess. An obvious example is Olympic gold medallist Lord Coe (Seb Coe). However, he is not alone. A number of fellow peers have been involved in a range of sports. This week’s quiz invites you to identify a number of them. As usual, the first two readers to supply the correct answers will be the winners.
1. I was twice a member of the British Olympic team (athletics). I later became an MP and Treasury minister. Who am I?
2. I gave up my ministerial post in order to pursue my interest in motor racing. Who am I?
3. I won an Olympic Silver Medal for rowing. Who am I?
1. Lord Higgins
2. Lord Drayson
3. Lord Moynihan
Too difficult for me this week. But will want to cash-in my points for prizes in the not too distant future – I’ve got into Imperial College London!
No. 2 is Paul ‘Powderject’ Drayson, is it not ?
1. Lord Higgins
2. Lord Drayson
3. Lord Moynihan
Number 2 is Lord Drayson!
Congratulations to Emmy (who got in very quickly) and Jonathan. The answers are indeed Lord Higgins, Lord Drayson and Lord Moynihan. A commendation to Bedd Gelert in identifying Lord Drayson and many congratulations to Chris K. on his admittance to Imperial College: he will now be able to take up his prize at his convenience.
