This is really by way of a postscript to my last blog, where I pointed out that under the British constitution the decision to go to war is customarily taken under the Royal Prerogative, ie by the Prime Minister acting in the name of the Crown. The fallout from last night’s Commons vote adds strength to my argument that such a decision is better taken by the PM than by crowd polling, rhetoric, name-calling and bullying. This is what is so menacing about the voting – it appeared on Twitter – and there is worse to come.

Orwell is not the most reliable judge. For instance, he wrote in Pacifism and the War that “Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist”.
But I agree with you in seeing affinities between the totalitarian ideologies. The propaganda you quote is not only similar to that of Nazi and fascist material of the 1920s but also of communist stuff going back to Trotsky as well as the Spartakusbund.
Baroness, I agree absolutely that any kind of bullying or threat is outrageous and not in the interestes of democracy. It is intolerable and not productive. However, politics is and will always be, an emotive matter. When people feel they have been lied to and cheated in order to get their vote, it is understandable that tempers become short.
The answer has to be for politicians to stop pretending they are for one course of action in order to be elected, then once in office change to another viewpoint, without first seeking the ‘permission’ of their constituents. And, unfortunately, for very many years now, the electorate has been defrauded this manner. On both sides of the house.
In this vote, on the gravest all all matters, war, the Labour candidates, who are not considered to be truly of Labour socialist persuasion, were considered to have taken the people, who believed they would stand by their cause, and reneged on that deal. Labour, until Blair, claimed to be against war. The men and women chosen by the PLP had been elected by their supporters under this mantra. Yet, when asked by the government of the day to vote the way they were expected to for their party, against war, they sided with a government who is despised by their own members. That is not democracy. Cannot be. For it opens us all to having no representation on any level.
The MP who votes for an idieology of an opposing party to the one they claim to represent, do not deserve to have the backing of their members. It is that simple. The answer, therefore, has to be, don’t promise what you do not intend to follow through. Join the party you really represent. Don’t play voters for idiots.
Jeremy Corbyn and his mantra is deeply respected by those who are Labour supporters. They were bitterly disappointed that their spokesmen turned into psuedo Conservatives when it came to a dreadful decision of more war. A very suspect war to boot. It was a hypocracy of the worst kind.
What must now be realised by Parliament is, those in their party, when running for office, who are not being honest about their ideology or their principles, only spouting their true colours when too late for their supporters to do anything about it, must step down and change sides. It is now five years before their voter can be rid of these cheats and this cannot be acceptable.
All those constituents who voted for their believed party member must have a way to remove them and for them to be replaced by a genuine member of the principles they claimed to have had at the time of election. It cannot be right to swing to a completely alternative ‘conscience’ once the trust they offered had shown them to be anything but what they pretended they were.
It is right for them to be deselected and another MP, with a commitment to the expressed principles, put in place for election by the people of that constituency at once. And about time to. Don’t run on a lie and you won’t be threatened with the wrath of those you duped is the way to rid us all of this dilemma.

Another thought has crossed my mind. Interesting how the old Blairite right wing guard refused those they thought were Corbyn voters from becoming Labour members, when the running for leader was on. Somehow Harman managed to find out how people across the UK had voted previously, and if she or they didn’t like the way they placed their bets she blocked their application to join. Even on people who had been long standing Labour supporters, she refused their goodwill. Now, tell me, what is the difference between that and deselection by the Labour members of today, toward those who do not stand for what is believe by them as Labour values?
Now the shoe is on the other foot, they squeal loudly. And if Labour continues with the return to itself, the party will grow out of all proportion and win the next GE.
Why do I say that? Because by 2010 the full Conservative poverty for all, not simply those on the bottom rung, will have kicked in. Once again people unable to pay their mortgages having their houses repossesed, and this time made homeless with no cradle to save them. Those in social housing having their homes taken from them to house immigrants, jobs even tighter and wages far lower. In fact, the full austerity package facing all but the really well buffered wealthy or top drawer who never suffer or are even aware of the ordinary mans existence, that’s why.
Disabled on the street begging or thrown in jail for it. Demonstrations against government moves blocked from the ordinary citizen and the prisons full of many who cannot survive outside of it.
That is, unless the people rise up and force their MP’s into calling another general election on a no confidence vote. Which has been made much harder and will need almighty people power to get anywhere. As the move to do this was taken on EU persuasion. No change of government for five years under their rules not ours.
So, Mr Corbyn and his supporters should look around hurriedly to find true ‘old Labour’ men and women and dump the Tory lite as soon as they can fill their seats, even if it means grabbing at oldies like Skinner to bring back the lost party. Then 2020 will be a landslide. And, no doubt, we will be out of Europe, free at last to call the tune of the will of the British people .
It is imperative that those who run our country and run for office as MP are fully educated in real politics. That make haste to end this idea that they can continue to be Dad’s Army and be on half throttle when taking decisions that are life threatening to mankind. The way they did last week.

and Not to The Workplace where “Training” is the only essential key;
nor could it be claimed by any “specially-essential Sub-Workplace” e.g. the parliamentary-workplace
{and come to that, not by the Schools and Universities Network, either; for they are dominantly workplaces themselves, as pre-training-for-workplace-positions,
and come to that have become increasingly “successful”, but in effect contra-educational, narrow-job-and-career efficiency foci and ‘blinkerings’.
Workplaces by definition only require –
that the prospective-worker must arrive pre-trained and narrowly-so for the Job,
and not for the 300% more essential Lifeplace’s essential and ‘desirable’ living-‘skills’ or more properly enablements and abilities.

One quite important fact in “how (not) to make decisions” is that “emotion” tends to both begin and end the process:
I think it was Edward de Bono who researched and found that

That was no doubt why he gave a special place detail of “no fault” to the “Red” hat in the 6-Thinking-Modes of his little book “Six Thinking Hats”.
It is as if he is finding: “Deal with emotionalities from the very beginning; and probably frequently too, because emotion will always tend to dominate the final-decision making anyway”.
