How DWP treats EU residents when few are watching

Lord Berkeley

I rarely comment on religious affairs, but here is an example of a Welsh reverend with a parish in Blaenau Ffestiniog.  He has put in a lot of effort to encourage economic regeneration there, including business involve with the railway there.  He is a regular visitor to Romania (as am I on occasions) and Bulgaria, and it is not surprising  that he helps EU residents from these member states deal with the DWP requirements that these people need interviews before they can be allocated National Insurance Numbers.

His Christmas message, attached, describes the DWP’s own statement to a local MP that it understands the travel difficulties in places such as North Wales, ‘particularly of working clients and have a field officer who will come out to local job centres’. Sadly, the truth as reported by Deniol is very different, with allocating appointments which make travel in a day impossible, as well as weeks delay.

It is worth a read!
