Merry Christmas

Baroness Murphy

Here in the Waveney Valley we’ve had winter quite easy so far, not much snow and temperatures no worse than minus 6. A lovely break away from London now until parliament reconvenes, and I’d better confess I’m off to the States in the New Year to accompany my husband on a lecturing commitment so I won’t be back until the second week of term. I’m particularly looking forward to the Health Bill next session so I’ve quite a lot of reading to do for that.

I find the further away I get from Westminster the less I’m interested in the daily political tittle-tattle. The Telegraph has discovered, shock horror, that Lib Dems hold broadly the same opinions now as they did before the Coalition was formed. No, really? Have we ever had news that was less new than this? It fits into the same category as that column in the Oldie reporting local newspaper trivia, ‘Not Many Dead’ such as this in the Darlington and Stockton Times: “Proceedings at Darlington Magistrates’ Court were adjourned for ten minutes on Thursday of last week due to the noise made by heavy rain falling on the court’s plastic roof”

Today’s Sun has far more crucial news today. Their second headline front-page story is about a squirrel that grew fat on too many nuts. Now surely there’s a Christmas public health message in there somewhere?

Have a Merry Christmas everyone and not too many nuts.

My Lady, was that an indiginous Red Squirrel or one of those immigrant Grey Squirels stealing all our resources again ?

    😉

It`s probably important to the EDL or BNP !

I think the health service is about to be stretched with Flu victims and the Government may have to revise it`s plans.

    A thought for Christmas:
If we know when the Middle Ages were, does that mean we know when the end is ?

    Have a good one.

    Was the D’ton & S’ton Times dated 11 April 1954?

I forgot to link this pre-summer:

For some reason, I thought of you, B Murphy.

A very happy Christmas, with love and peace to you all for 2011.

    Not too many nuts?

Not so much squirreling as decorticating the Olive stones which would be beyond the cracking skills even of the squirrel!

The Noble baroness’ olive crop may well have allowed some extra virgin olive oil extraction, but nutcrackers? No! decortication? yes!
