I think this is fascinating! As Labour did rather better than I thought we would do I can now enjoy some of the anomalies. I bumped into Norman Tebbit the other day and said that I never thought I would live to see the day that he became an honorary member of the Liberal party! Norman does not always display a sense of humour but he did give a burst of laughter on this one!
Oh to be in a safe Labour seat, that of a peer.
Shouldn`t you be asking not why Labour did better than you thought but rather what they did wrong ?
I think Labour party members are spending too much time sneering without realising they are the ones who put the Country in a mess and their jibes are not about to help get us out.
I find that even little notes stating you`ve left us Miss Sweet Fanny Adams in the Treasury Department rather unfunny, especially knowing that someone will lose their job, their home and possibly their life.

Unfair on Lord Tebbitt. I enjoy his wit, while deprecating most of his philosophy.
Ranking, as Lord Tebbitt does, as one of the principal party club bores that was indeed a considerable achievement, but then Clive’s sardonic wit takes a lot of beating.
Did you make as if to tap upon his breast pocket in making the comment?
There must be some humor in this blog somewhere, apart from the name, which is a gift from heaven.
And as an old socialist it must have been quite a privilege for you to be an honorary tory during the New Labour years?
Who is Senex talking to now? Not me I hope!
“Lord Tebbitt. I enjoy his wit”
Wit? That is not wit! It is called pain.
The Liberal Party is NOT in a coalition with the Tory Party…you mean the Liberal Democrats…don’t you?
