I have now read the full text of Pope Benedict’s address to the bishops of England and Wales. It is quite clear that he was referring to an existing law passed a year or two ago, and NOT to the current Equality Bill. Accusations of interference in British internal affairs were therefore unfounded.

That’s what is known as diplomacy. He can point at the previous legislation as a get-out, while putting pressure on the current proposals by not being particluarly clear about the target of his comments.
Lord Hylton,
Looking down the list of pope Benedict’s nine points of principle, every single one is mine own, so I don’t worry too much what he says or does. He can say no wrong!
Of course they were. But too many people in power think the propaganda is more important that the truth.
I’m glad the Pope isn’t bothered and just keeps on saying what IS.
I alway did admire Pope Benedict 16, his uncompromising Character is more inspirational than modern weasely Politicians…
I can;t say that I favor Catholic social teaching of Distributism.
“Too much capitalism does not mean too many capitalists, but too few capitalists.”
This is the Third Way expounded in Blair’s campaigns in the mid 90s. It was only a description of the status quo, which may since have come to haunt the UK, in its vast gambling house property Casino of the years
2000-2007, fuelled mainly by there being….
too many capitalists.
Christian and Catholic socialism still has a
place, and not a distributist one either.
The Third Distributist Way was convenient for a national political campaign, but not a sound economic philosophy, not Belloc, nor Chesterton at all!
Karl Marx!
