On your marks…

Lord Norton

47606A couple of weekend quiz questions.

In an earlier post, I asked readers if they could name members of the Lords who had won medals in Olympic Games.  The two most obvious names were quickly offered: Lord Coe (Seb Coe) a multiple Gold medallist in  athletics and Lord Moynihan (Colin Moynihan) a Silver medallist in rowing.  However, the list is not exhaustive.  There is another Gold medallist sitting  in the House.  Any offers?  If it helps, he sits on the Conservative benches.  And it’s not me.

The other question, much easier to answer: which peer is a Nobel Prize Winner?

Lord Trimble won the Nobel Peace Prize.

I know who the other medallist is, but I’ll admit I Googled that one, so I’ll leave it and see if someone genuinely knows the answer!

The gold medallist is, along with Lord Trimble, another Northern Irish Conservative peer, Lord Glentoran.

Jonathan: You deserve a prize for the speed of your response as well as for providing a correct answer. As you say, Lord Trimble won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Michael: Well done. Correct and a nice link.

If anyone wants to know what Lord Glentoran (then Robin Dixon) got his Gold medal for, follow the link provided by CRAiG.

RSS is very useful when it comes to writing quick responses!

Perhaps a weekend trivia quiz could become a regular feature of the blog?

Jonathan: I am happy to post a regular weekend quiz. I already have several questions in mind. Not sure what we can and should offer by way of a prize, though, other than the kudos of winning – possibly tea at the Lords for anyone who wins several times.
