I shall be leaving for Geneva with other members of the Select Committee shortly and returning on Tuesday. We will be taking evidence form the World Health Organisation, UNITAID, (http://www.unitaid.eu/ ) Stop TB Partnership, The International federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, GAVI ( http://www.gavialliance.org/ ) and WIPO (http://www.wipo.int/portal/index.html.) amongst others.
It’s a busy schedule but should be particularly interesting as we are getting closer to understanding the problems and possibilities of the various organisations trying to protect all of us from some particularly nasty diseases.
There is a lot going on in Africa with affordable unbranded medicines but I never seem to hear anything about the eradication of Tetse Fly.

Why is this? Especially when livestock is so important to villages.
My committee is only looking at the structure of the Intergovernmental organisations and four key diseases – HIV, Malaria, TB and Pandemic flu. That doesn’t mean the others are unimportant and you are quite right to identify the Tetse fly as being being particularly important. I don’t have too much knowledge on this one but the following site might give you cause for hope.
