Lieutenant General David Leakey, CMG, CBE succeeds Lt Gen. Sir Freddie Viggers who retired because of ill health. General Leakey takes up the appointment on 1 February.

Well done Lieutenant General David Leakey, CMG, CBE.
Wishing Lt Gen. Sir Freddie Viggers all the very best for the future.
Goodbye Vince ?
Carl.H: The whole House wishes Sir Freddie Viggers well. I gather he is making a good recovery.
Lord Norton I have listened to the consideration of Commons Amendments to the Identity Documents Bill there has been some very bizarre procedural behavior by the opposition. It seems that the Labour party are not worthy of being called her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition. Lord Soley and his socialist chums ought to be ashamed of their behavior. I felt sorry for Baroness Neville Jones it amounted to bullying by the Labour party and they have shown how low they will go.
tory boy: I was planning to refer you to my latest post, but I see you have seen it. It is something I plan to pursue in the New Year.
A merry Christmas and joyful new year to all those who have given me the pleasure and privilege of thought about the body politic during 2010, of all parties and none.
May new Black Rod enjoy a successful tenure of office.
