The debate in the chamber yesterday, in which teams from four schools each advocated one of the options for the future of the Lords (all appointed, hybrid, abolition, all elected) produced the following results:
- Fully appointed: 81
- Hybrid: 48
- Abolition: 26
- Fully elected: 8
Congratulations to the team from the Robert Clack School in Dagenham who argued the case for a fully appointed House.
The debate will be shown on the BBC Parliament Channel on 17 December at 4.00 p.m.
Well done the Robert Clack School, another feather in your cap, fantastic. Big up the Dagenham massive !
Also well done Lord Norton who guided the team. I look forward to seeing the debate in full.
Wary children like old men always seek the comfort and safety of the familiar. What say you Lord Norton?

Neither children or old !
Very well done to them.
It sounds like it’s well worth watching, so I’ve asked my mum to record it.
My option seems not to have even been considered. I’d restore the Hereditarians. I suppose thats just unthinkable in todays climate.
But times do have a way of changing.
Being that we already seem to be sharing factors regarding Schools’ debate on (and in) the Lords – Lords of the Blog, We hear each and every day from all sectors of our society about the significance of education. Our politicians generally run under the slogan of “I am for education“,” I desire to change our educational system, so we can compete with other immerging countries .
