Well I hadn’t expected some tuition on mini roundabouts but I am very grateful to the AA and to the other comments on the post below. It is very useful as I am giving my son some extra driving experience before he takes his test so although I am sure his instructor gives him the right advice I can at least make sure I don’t contradict it!.
Meanwhile back to the Committee. We shall be looking very closely at the Public Bodies Bill which is to be debated next week. This Bill is truly extraordinary. The Government is trying to take the powers necessary to wind up, merge or hand over to private bodies literally dozens of QANGOS. It is the famous “cull”. The trouble with such a policy is that it by-passes Parliamentary scrutiny unless we insist on the Government coming back to Parliament for any major changes. That is the purpose of this committee and why it is important.

Getting rid of quangos without an act in parliament to get rid of all the regs which were done by the quangos without act of parliament.
