Viscount Tenby http://biographies.parliament.uk/parliament/default.asp?id=26817 turned out to be a keen supporter so I will urge him to sign up.

There was good support for the Speaker’s attempts to open up the Lords and she has arranged for the Youth Parliament to take place in the chamber today – a real first. http://www.ukyouthparliament.org.uk/ Going through their link will enable you to watch it live between 10am and 1pm today.

When I click on the link to Viscount Tenby’s page I get a message telling me that I don’t have permission to view that page.

    What is “Red Benches”?

Francisco, there’s a problem with links to Peer’s biographies that is to do with accessing them from within or from outside the parliamentary network. This link works pefectly well inside and not at all outside!

You can go here to find the biographies of all Members of the Lords… http://www.parliament.uk/directories/house_of_lords_information_office/alphabetical_list_of_members.cfm

Red benches refers to an in house magazine for the Lords. It gets its name from the red benches that we sit on. The Commons sit on green benches. Carpets in the corridors of the two Houses are also coloured accordingly – so we don’t get lost!
